Dell A. Shepherd, M.D.
Dr. Dell Shepherd arrived in North Platte in March, 1979 to join the pediatric practice of Dr. Sam Perry. Dr. Shepherd graduated from Cozad High School. He completed his pediatric residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and a pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at Texas Childrens Hospital in Houston, Texas before coming to North Platte. He is a fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hematology-oncology.
Dr. Shepherd began the first allergy clinic in North Platte in 1980, eventually taken over by Allergy, Asthma, & Immunology Associates, P.C. from Lincoln. He and Dr. Lee Kimzey have worked together for over 15 years to provide evaluation and treatment for children and adolescents with school, behavior, and emotional problems.
Dr. Shepherd has served as the Medical Director for Quality at Great Plains Regional Medical Center since 2005.
Dr. Shepherd and his wife, Janet, have two sons, Timothy of Ithaca, New York, and Kyle (Kallie) of North Platte and two grandchildren, Hunter and Isabel, of North Platte.
Kathy S. Lopez, M.D.
Dr. Kathy Lopez graduated from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago in 1992. She completed her pediatrics residency at Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and worked at an outpatient clinic in a Pittsburgh suburb after residency. In 2003 she joined Adolescent and Child Care Specialists.
In addition to her clinic duties, Dr. Lopez is the Medical Director and Board Member of the Bridge of Hope Child Advocacy Center and is the Medical Director for the Pediatric Feeding and Swallowing Clinic, as well as serving on many hospital committees.
Dr. Lopez and her husband, Allen, an elementary teacher in the North Platte School System, have two teenage sons, Peter and Jeff. They are active volunteers in the boys activities including Boy Scouts and Swim Team. In her spare time Dr. Lopez enjoys reading, rehabbing her 100 year old home, and attending her boys activities.
Vijay K. Prasad, M.D.Dr. Vijay Prasad came to the United States from India over ten years ago in the summer of 1997. He practices pediatrics and adolescent medicine and has subspeciality training in newborn medicine. After graduating from medical school in 1992 and three years of post graduate training in pediatrics in India, he completed three years of Pediatric Residency from Woodhull Medical Center, Downstate University, New York City, leading to Board certification in pediatrics in 2000. After two years of Fellowship training in newborn medicine at the University of Illinois in Chicago, he entered into pediatric practice in West Virginia in 2002. After over five years of a successful solo practice in West Virginia, Dr. Prasad joined Adolescent and Child Care Specialists with Dr. Shepherd and Dr. Lopez in January of 2008.
Dr. Prasad's and his wife Seema have been married since July of 1995. They have two boys Abhinav 12 and Vedant 8. Seema is currently a family practice resident at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. The boys are very active playing soccer and Dr. Prasad likes to read in his spare time. Dr. Prasad states "we like North Platte as this a very friendly community with plenty of activities for children."
